Nobody expects the worst things are going to happen to them, but in reality, there are many dangers around our homes that we might not think about that could have a horrible effect on our family. Take for example your windows. If you have a multi-level home, a fall out of a window could prove deadly for your children. While you try to be as careful as possible not to leave your children unattended, things happen, and it doesn’t take long for a determined child to make it to an open window.

The first rule is to never leave a child alone in a room with an open window but to be on the safe side, you should take some extra, precautionary steps to ensure their safety.

If it is possible to just open the top portion of a window, that is a good alternative. Having a sturdy bug-screen installed can help somewhat, but these are not made to take much weight, so it shouldn’t be your only means of protection. You might also want to plan for the worst by having soft soil or bushes underneath your windows to soften a fall.
