Fire has always been a two-edged sword. While it can warm you and you can cook your food over it, it can also devastate your crops or burn your house down. While we as humans aren’t as reliant on fire for our everyday lives as we were, the danger is still there, especially when you have a fire that gets out of control, as in the case with wildfire.
Naturally, there are certain areas of the country that are more likely to have a wildfire, but with weather patterns as unpredictable as they have been, it could happen anywhere. So what should you do to minimize the risk that your home is burnt down in a wildfire?
Well, while there is no fool-proof protection, there are some steps that you can take to ensure you minimize the risk for your home. Clearing up loose debris, such as old pallets, fallen trees and branches will go a long way in denying fuel for the fire. You should also be careful if you have a fence so that it doesn’t collect blowing leaves, creating perfect conditions for a fire to burn.
