Birds around your home can be both a blessing and a curse. While it can be very relaxing to watch the birds and listen to their chirping, they can also do damage. For example, bird droppings have uric acid in them, and this can eat through your pavement, cement and many other building materials.

Another common problem with birds has to do with where they build their nests. A dark secluded place, such as your chimney, a vent exhaust or similar, can be very appealing for a bird. This means that you might experience blocked exhausts which in turn could lead to very serious consequences, even posing a fire hazard. Blocking access to these places with sturdy netting might be your best option.

If you plant grass seed, birds will most likely eat them all up before they have time to take root. Your best remedy, in this case, is to put down hay or something similar to cover the grass seed while it grows.
